MnACC Fall 2021 Checklist (for college counselors)
Are you prepared for the upcoming college fairs?
1. Register for Virtual College Fairs
o Participants must be paid MnACC members. Institutions and organizations will only be allowed to participate if full payment has been received to the membership committee or if a copy of a P.O. has been submitted. To create a membership or renew, visit our membership page.
o Fair dates:
Tuesday, March 16th at 9:00am - 11:00am & 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Wednesday, March 17th at 10:00am - 12:00pm & 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Thursday, March 18th at 9:00am - 11:00am & 2:00pm to 4:00pm
2. Create Your Virtual Booth
o To begin creating your booth, please visit this link and click Register Here, or Update Existing Registration- you will only need to do this once for all three dates.
o You will have until Friday, September 25th to complete your booth registration.
3. GTCF Webinars
o Visit the website to view the available webinars to help with your virtual booth set-up.
The Matchmaking Feature: The GTCF/Swoogo platform will automatically match prospective students to institutions based on three or more criteria. This means that a student whose preferences match your institution's profile will automatically be added to your leads list regardless of whether they choose to interact with you at a fair. You will also collect leads when students visit your virtual booth. We hope that this feature will generate more interest in your institution.
Face-to-Face Meetings: The platform will also allow you to add a link to your Zoom or Google Hangout meeting room so that students can talk to you face-to-face with one-click (similar to standing behind a table at a fair). This feature will replace the instant messaging feature that we previously had on AdmitHub this past Fall. When you update your booth, we encourage you to add a link to your personal meeting room to take advantage of this new feature. You can access the MnACC Spring 2021 Fair website here to update your booth. Once you land on the main page, click on the green bar in the top right hand corner of the page to login. We have included directions with this email.
Video Submissions: Our programming committee would also like to incorporate any pre-recorded videos with tips or insights that would be helpful to our students as they navigate the college search process. Some examples of helpful pre-recorded videos include those that cover filling out the FAFSA, writing an excellent college essay, appealing a financial aid decision, how to find a college that "fits," or even accessing helpful resources on college campuses. This list isn't exhaustive but we hope that it gives you an idea of what we're looking for. We hope to embed the videos that we crowdsource from admission counselors somewhere on the college fair platform. The fair website will remain available for students to browse until the end of May.
