In this informational and interactive virtual event, Dr. Aeriel A. Ashlee invites high school counselors and college admissions professionals to consider how (re)centering and (re)claiming the joy in our work can serve as the catalyst and fuel we need to resist and persist in these challenging times. Expanding upon the fall 2023 MnACC conference, Finding the Joy in Our Why, and planting seeds for next year’s 2024 MnACC conference, this session will energize and empower as we head into the busy spring season.
About Dr. Ashlee: Aeriel A. Ashlee, PhD (she/her) is a proud Asian American womxn of color mamascholar. Her professional praxis is guided by her desire and commitment to facilitating healing and liberation in higher education. Prior to her current role as associate professor of the College Counseling and Student Development master’s program at St. Cloud State University, Dr. Ashlee worked in student affairs in higher education advocating for Students of Color and fostering brave space for bold conversations. Her research interests include pedagogies of belonging, womxn of color empowerment and critical consciousness in higher education, and coalition building between transracial adoptee and multiracial communities.
